What the resolution said
The resolution directed the House Ethics Committee to preserve and release records related to sexual misconduct investigations involving members of Congress.
The resolution stated the committee must:
“preserve and produce records relating to investigations of sexual harassment or sexual misconduct by Members of the House of Representatives.” (3)
The measure specifically referenced House Rule XXIII clause 9 and clause 18, which govern:
- sexual harassment
- sexual relationships between members and staff
- abuse of official position
The resolution also required the committee to release those records publicly after redacting private information of victims or witnesses. (3)
