Planned Parenthood of Michigan to close three more health centers

Planned Parenthood of Michigan will close its Lansing, Livonia and Warren health centers this year, citing a loss of federal funding. The organization closed centers in Marquette, Petoskey and Jackson last year and consolidated its two Ann Arbor locations.

President and CEO Paula Thornton Greear said the decision is part of a network reorganization after a $4.2 million decline in patient care reimbursement and federal family planning funding in 2025 and $5.6 million in uncompensated and undercompensated care owed at the end of 2026.

The organization said Livonia and Warren patients are within 20 miles of Detroit and Ferndale health centers, and many Lansing services are available through its virtual care network. None of the three closing centers provides procedural abortion care, and Planned Parenthood of Michigan will continue operating seven locations in the state.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer blamed President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill for the closures, while Right to Life of Michigan president Amber Roseboom called the announcement “political theater” and pointed to Planned Parenthood’s national organization.
