Whittingham says Michigan has improved after strength-room concerns

Kyle Whittingham said Michigan’s overall team strength was below his expectations when the new staff conducted baseline testing after arriving in Ann Arbor last winter.

Doug Elisaia, Michigan’s director of football sports performance, brought the testing results to Whittingham after joining him from Utah. Whittingham said the staff spent the past seven months working to correct the issue.

Whittingham said 97% of Michigan players set personal bests when the team re-tested last week ahead of fall camp. He did not name specific players or metrics.
