Ingham County PPO support office to close after funding loss
A Lansing-based office that helps survivors of domestic and sexual violence file for personal protection orders is set to close Sept. 15 after losing state funding through a competitive bidding process.
The PPO support office is operated by End Violent Encounters. Ingham County Prosecutor John Dewane said the closure will remove a significant community resource, though EVE plans to offer some PPO guidance by phone after the office closes.
The funding comes to the state through a federal program and was reallocated to a different county, not eliminated. The closure also affects partner organizations in nearby counties, including Eaton SIREN, which had relied on EVE for legal services.
Other EVE victim support services remain unaffected. EVE’s 24/7 crisis hotline is 517-372-5572, press one, and SIREN’s 24/7 confidential help line is 1-800-899-9997.
