Family thanks responders after fatal Grand Haven Township fire
The family of Amanda “Mandy” Karolkiewicz and her six children thanked first responders who answered the call to a Grand Haven Township home where eight family members were found dead after multiple fires on July 24.
Investigators said the deaths were being investigated as a murder-suicide, and autopsy results later confirmed that a 47-year-old husband shot and killed his wife and six children, set fires and took his own life. Several pets also died.
In a statement, relatives asked the community to support officers, firefighters, dispatchers and others who responded to the scene. The family also set up an official GoFundMe to help cover legal and probate costs, with remaining money planned for a scholarship in memory of the six children.
