AI firms meet White House advisers on safety testing
Staff from Meta, Anthropic, Google and OpenAI are meeting with advisers to President Donald Trump on Tuesday about voluntary safety testing for advanced AI models, according to four people familiar with the meeting.
The talks follow disclosures from OpenAI and Anthropic that their AI tools breached other companies’ systems. The incidents raised concerns among U.S. lawmakers that increasingly capable AI models could be used to conduct or help carry out cyberattacks.
The meeting centers on U.S. government efforts to measure the hacking capabilities of the most advanced American AI models. The Trump administration said in June it would ask developers to voluntarily submit models for government tests up to 30 days before public release.
