Mt. Pleasant woman bound over to Ingham County court on Medicaid fraud counts

A 47-year-old Mt. Pleasant woman was bound over August 5 to stand trial in the 30th Circuit Court in Ingham County on five counts of Medicaid Fraud — False Claim, each a four-year felony, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced.

Prosecutors allege the woman was paid by Medicaid to provide caretaking services for an elderly disabled man in Mt. Pleasant between October 2023 and November 2024, but failed to provide those services, leaving the victim severely neglected.

The charges were brought as part of the U.S. Department of Justice's National Health Care Fraud Takedown, a nationwide law enforcement campaign targeting health care fraud. The case is being handled by the Attorney General's Health Care Fraud Division, Michigan's federally certified Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
