Three tubers found alive after days-long search on Muskegon River

Michigan State Police said three people missing since a tubing trip on the Muskegon River were found alive Friday afternoon, three-quarters of a mile into the woods from the river. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The three, reported missing after a tubing trip earlier in the week, included a mother, her son and her cousin, according to WZZM. Family members had been unable to reach them, and one woman's father called police after finding her car with a broken window at the Maple Island Boat Launch.

Searchers including state police, local authorities, boaters and drones scoured the river and surrounding area, finding two inflatable tubes and footprints during the search. The Muskegon River runs more than 200 miles from Houghton Lake to Muskegon Lake and draws heavy recreational tubing, kayaking and canoeing traffic.
