Activists host peace-focused community day at Lansing park
Local activists held a community fun day Saturday at a Lansing park, giving families free shoes and food while calling for peace after recent violence nearby.
More than 15 religious leaders gathered to pray before the event began. Larry Johnson of Brotherhood Against Drugs said the gathering aimed to reassure neighbors that the park remains a safe place to gather.
Johnson said more than 1,000 families received free shoes and food at the event.
