Harvard discloses $2.2 billion stake in SpaceX

Harvard University’s investment arm disclosed a $2.2 billion stake in SpaceX in a regulatory filing Friday, making it the largest individual stock holding listed in its $4.3 billion portfolio of U.S. equities.

The position reflects gains from early exposure to the rocket company after its June initial public offering. Harvard Management Company oversaw about $57 billion as of June 2025, according to the latest publicly available figure.

Other university investors also disclosed SpaceX holdings, including the University of California’s investment arm with a position worth roughly $1 billion. SpaceX shares closed Friday at $140, down 0.9% for the day, after debuting at $135 per share.
