Michigan lowers Reconnect scholarship eligibility age to 21

Michigan has permanently lowered the eligibility age for its Michigan Reconnect scholarship program from 25 to 21, expanding tuition-free college access to more residents.

The scholarship covers tuition for skilled trade programs and in-district community colleges. Applicants must be at least 21, have lived in Michigan for at least one year, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and have no prior college degree.

Applicants can apply online, choose a public community college, file a FAFSA and enroll. Residents with questions can speak with a financial aid adviser or contact the Michigan Reconnect team during weekly office hours.
