Trump administration has far more ultrawealthy officials than recent predecessors

A Public Citizen report published Monday found that 57 Trump administration officials are worth at least $100 million, including 17 ambassadors and 40 senior executive-branch officials. Eight of Trump’s 23 Cabinet members meet that threshold, including Treasury Secretary Howard Lutnick and Education Secretary Linda McMahon.

The report counted five officials each in the administrations of George W. Bush and Joe Biden, and three under Barack Obama. Public Citizen said the concentration of wealth could create concerns about government incentives and whose interests officials serve. Separately, 32% of U.S. adults approved of Trump’s handling of the economy last month, down from 40% at the start of his second term.
