U.S. threatens sweeping new economic pressure on Iran

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the United States will impose what he called the toughest sanctions in history on Iran, following President Trump’s pledge to pursue economic warfare and unprecedented isolation. Bessent said the pressure would eliminate the need for renewed direct combat and warned countries trading with Iran could face severe penalties.
