Fatal stabbing renews safety concerns in downtown Lansing
Lansing police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man early Thursday morning. Officers found him suffering from a stab wound around 4 a.m. in the 300 block of East Michigan Avenue and performed lifesaving measures before he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Business and community members expressed concerns about safety near parks and the river trail. Mayor Andy Schor called the killing a tragedy and said the city would continue law enforcement, assistance and enforcement efforts in public spaces.
No arrests have been made. Police are working to determine what happened and are asking anyone with information to contact the department at 517-483-4600 or through its Facebook page.
