Leadership changes and development disputes shape Ingham County news

Michigan State University named Dan Bartholomae as its next athletic director. Bartholomae, currently Western Michigan University’s athletics director, is expected to start Aug. 31, with MSU’s board expected to consider his contract Sept. 11. The university has not released contract details.

In East Lansing, Tareen Development Partners sued the city after officials rejected several proposals for the Bailey Street parking lot. The company most recently proposed a 10-story building on the city-operated site.

Mason scheduled a Sept. 14 town hall to discuss a proposed data center on 400 acres in Vevay Township west of the city. The State Boundary Commission is reviewing a potential annexation, while local residents have organized both in support of and opposition to the proposal.
