Market growth is broadening beyond AI and U.S. tech leaders
Market performance in 2026 has broadened as investors place less emphasis on speculative liquidity and more on profit growth and valuations. U.S. profit growth remains solid but appears to be nearing a peak, while profit cycles outside the United States are accelerating and beginning to converge with U.S. growth.
Broad U.S. and global indexes outperformed the Magnificent 7 stocks in the first half of the year. If inflation keeps pressure on the Federal Reserve to reduce liquidity while profits improve across more regions and sectors, stocks with shorter durations, dividend income and underappreciated fundamentals could continue to gain ground.
