Bill would let schools seek lower speed limits in school zones

A bill introduced Wednesday would allow school districts to request school-zone speed limits as low as 25 mph, regardless of the road’s normal limit.

The change would require approval from a county road committee, but would not require a speed study. Current temporary school-zone limits can reduce the normal speed by no more than 20 mph.
