Water main break disrupts services at Livingston County prison

A complex water main break has caused intermittent disruptions since Tuesday at Woodland Center Correctional Facility in Livingston County, affecting hundreds of inmates and employees. Contractors continued repairs Thursday evening, when the entrance was blocked.

The facility has limited some showers, used portable toilets and provided bottled water and alternative water resources. A family member said an incarcerated dialysis patient received about two and a half hours of treatment Thursday with assistance from a water tank.

The Michigan Department of Corrections said dialysis care is being provided safely under qualified health care professionals and that officials are closely monitoring the situation while repairs continue.
