Ingham County builds sustainability plan around equity and resident input
Ingham County is developing a Sustainability Action Plan that will address climate, energy and sustainability investments through an environmental justice lens. Officials are using a greenhouse gas emissions inventory, a climate vulnerability assessment, surveys and listening sessions to shape the plan.
The county recently earned gold certification through Michigan Green Communities. Its sustainability work includes energy-efficiency upgrades at a community health center, including LED lighting and heating and cooling improvements. Officials say residents’ feedback will help guide the plan and its future implementation.
