Immigration officials arrest British conservative commentator in Louisiana

U.S. immigration officials arrested British commentator Milo Yiannopoulos on Thursday at an international airport in New Orleans, the Department of Homeland Security said Friday. Officials accused him of overstaying after entering the United States legally in May 2019.

An immigration judge issued a final removal order July 22 after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for his immigration hearing. His detention location was not listed publicly, and representatives did not respond to requests for comment.

The arrest came amid a nationwide increase in detentions under President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown. Yiannopoulos has worked in conservative political activism and most recently worked for rapper Ye.
