38 horses return to Milford stable after investigation ends without charges

Thirty-eight horses have returned to a Milford stable after Oakland County Animal Control seized them last month following complaints that their care allegedly violated Michigan law. A judge issued two search warrants, and veterinary staff examined the animals while they remained in county care.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office declined to authorize criminal charges after reviewing the investigation. Veterinary notes indicated some horses were underweight, had gaps in deworming and showed saddle-fit injuries.

The stable owner denied wrongdoing and said the seizure damaged her livelihood. One horse, Knox, was euthanized while the animals were in county care, according to the owner, who said she was not contacted beforehand.
