Michigan farm equipment death raises state workplace fatality count to 34

A 67-year-old Michigan man died after he was pinned while trying to clean a hay chopper on Aug. 28, authorities said. Deputies, firefighters and emergency medical crews responded to the incident in Sanilac County’s Delaware Township.

The man, from the Palms area, died from his injuries, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office. His name was not released. The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration said the death was the 34th workplace fatality reported in the state this year.
