Storms leave thousands without power across central Michigan

Several thousand customers across central Michigan remained without power Thursday after storms moved through the area Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Consumers Energy reported about 3,500 outages, mainly in southwestern Eaton County and southeastern Barry County.

DTE Energy reported just under 100,000 customers offline, including about 5,000 in the Howell area. Outages also affected parts of Livingston County and eastern Ingham County, while a severe thunderstorm warning remained in effect for parts of the region until 10:30 a.m.
