Leon Black misses congressional deposition over Epstein ties

Investor Leon Black failed to appear Thursday for a congressional deposition about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, prompting Democrats on the House Oversight Committee to call for contempt proceedings.

Black filed a federal lawsuit challenging the subpoenas and questioning lawmakers’ authority to demand nondisclosure agreements he signed with women who have no known connection to Epstein. The committee said it would consider next steps.

Black testified in June that he paid Epstein $158 million for tax and estate-planning advice. He has said he knew nothing of Epstein’s crimes and denied abusing women.
