Severe winds leave damage and outages across Ingham County
Severe thunderstorms damaged buildings, downed trees and disrupted electric service across Ingham County on Thursday. The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for northeastern Ingham County after radar detected rotation, but had not confirmed a tornado in the Williamston area as of early Friday.
Near Williamston, a building sustained roof damage and a concrete wall collapsed. Trees were reported down near Haslett, Lake Lansing, Mason, Holt and south of Webberville. A pavilion was destroyed at Lake Lansing Park South, and both Lake Lansing parks remained closed Friday as crews cleared debris.
Consumers Energy’s outage map showed the largest concentration of Lansing-area outages around Haslett and Okemos shortly after 5 a.m. Friday, including one outage affecting 1,499 customers. No injuries had been reported in connection with the Ingham County damage as of Thursday evening.
