Former MSU student files notice of intent to sue over Wells Hall exposure

A former Michigan State University student claims exposure to toxic chemicals in Wells Hall led to hospitalization and multiple health problems, including sepsis and serious dermatological and neurological injuries. Tymmij Lee Randolph sent a notice of claim to the university’s Board of Trustees on July 31.

The notice alleges chemicals associated with methamphetamine production were present in the building while Randolph attended classes from Feb. 5 through April 23. Randolph said he was hospitalized May 5 and continues to suffer injuries.

MSU spokesperson Amber McCann said the university could not comment on potential litigation but said the health and safety of its community is the university’s top priority. A notice of intent to sue is a preliminary filing indicating a potential claim for money damages.
