Williamston boy dies after SUV hits bicycling siblings near Lansing
A 12-year-old Williamston boy died Saturday after an SUV struck him and his 13-year-old sister while they rode bicycles along the shoulder of Grand River near N. Meech Road in Leroy Township, Michigan State Police said.
The boy died at the scene. His sister was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 64-year-old Williamston woman driving the Ford Explorer was not injured, and police said drugs and alcohol were not involved.
State police reminded drivers to leave at least three feet when passing bicyclists, remain alert and slow down.
