Democrats plan to use Natural Resources committee to probe Trump Administration

If Democrats win control of the House in November, they plan to use the House Natural Resources Committee to investigate President Trump's administration over alleged corruption and contempt for the law. The committee, which oversees federal lands, could probe controversial projects like the White House ballroom and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool renovation.

Rep. Jared Huffman, the committee's top Democrat, says he expects a wave of government employees to come forward as whistleblowers under a Democratic majority. Huffman plans to investigate 'vanity projects' and revisit the administration's decisions from the past two years.

The committee's chairman has broad authority to issue subpoenas, and the precise scope of that power in the next Congress would depend on the rules adopted by the House and the committee.
