Lawsuit accuses Dollar Tree of keeping tariff-Related refunds

A lawsuit filed in federal court in Virginia accuses Dollar Tree of raising prices to cover tariff costs and then keeping millions of dollars in related refunds. The case was brought on behalf of 10 customers who said they noticed price increases after tariffs took effect.

The lawsuit says some products rose by as much as $1.75. Dollar Tree sought $379 million in tariff refunds as of Aug. 1 and received about $369 million, plus $14 million in interest. The proposed class action covers shoppers who bought items at Dollar Tree stores between Feb. 1, 2025, and Feb. 24, 2026.
