Mid-Michigan gas prices climb to $4.39 amid global tensions

Drivers in Mid-Michigan are seeing gas prices reach $4.39 a gallon as wholesale gasoline prices in the Midwest rose more than 30 cents over the past week.

GasBuddy petroleum analyst Patrick De Haan said the increase followed escalations involving the U.S. And Iran and attacks by Ukraine on Russian oil refineries. He said prices rose nationwide after the Labor Day weekend.

The usual September shift to cheaper winter gasoline may not lower prices if overseas tensions continue tightening global gasoline supplies.
