Detroit man charged in road rage shooting following MSP investigation

Michigan State Police shut down the southbound lanes of M‑39 from Plymouth Road to Joy Road near I‑96 in Detroit on Aug. 25 to investigate a shooting that escalated from a road rage incident.

Police identified the suspect, Onzie Deandre Norman, and secured probable cause for multiple search warrants at his residence. They located the suspected vehicle and a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting, and Norman later confessed to firing the weapon.

Norman was arraigned on Friday on eight felony counts, including assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, assault with intent to murder, discharging a weapon from a vehicle, assault with a dangerous weapon, and four felony firearm charges. His bond was set at $50,000 cash/surety/10%. He is scheduled to appear before Judge Marlena Thomas for a probable cause conference at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 17.
