Consumers Energy upgrades Alto substation, affecting 1,500 customers this weekend

Consumers Energy will upgrade a substation in the Alto area to improve reliability for customers in the community. The overnight work will affect roughly 1,500 customers in eastern Kent County near the Ionia County line.

Work is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. On Saturday, September 12, and will conclude no later than 7 a.m. On Sunday, September 13. The affected area extends from I-96 in the north to Bowne Center in the south.

Customers in the area should have received postcards announcing the project. If the work cannot be completed this weekend, a backup date of Saturday, September 19, has been set.
