MDOT launches resurfacing and sidewalk work on M-50 and M-79 in Charlotte
MDOT has begun a resurfacing and sidewalk improvement project on two state highways in Charlotte, Michigan, with construction scheduled to run from Monday, September 14, through Monday, November 9.
The work will cover M‑50 (Cochran Avenue) between the M‑50/I‑69 Business Route and Beech Highway, and M‑79/I‑69 Business Loop—Lawrence Street and Lansing Street—between Bostwick Street and Gale Street. Crews will install ADA‑compliant sidewalks and maintain traffic flow through single‑lane closures and flag operations.
The project aims to enhance roadway conditions and pedestrian accessibility, improving the overall usability of Charlotte’s transportation infrastructure. It is part of MDOT’s broader program to preserve and upgrade Michigan’s state highway system.
