NRA endorses Byron Donalds for Florida governor, awards top ‘a+’ rating

The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA‑PVF) announced its endorsement of Congressman Byron Donalds for Florida governor, awarding him its highest “A+” rating for his legislative record on gun rights. The endorsement reflects Donalds’ voting record and positions on Second Amendment issues during his time in the U.S. House of Representatives and previously in the Florida House of Representatives.

According to the NRA‑PVF, the “A+” grade is reserved for lawmakers who have maintained strong voting records on core gun‑rights legislation and actively worked to defend gun ownership. John Commerford, Chairman of NRA‑PVF, said Donalds has been a steadfast defender of the Second Amendment and the rights of law‑abiding gun owners throughout his time in public service. Donalds released a statement welcoming the backing of the gun‑rights organization, saying, “I’m honored to earn the endorsement of the NRA‑PVF and its highest ‘A+’ rating.”

The endorsement highlights differing approaches to firearms policy in the Florida gubernatorial race. Donalds has campaigned on protecting and expanding gun rights, pledging to maintain that stance if elected. His opponent, David Jolly, has proposed several gun‑control measures, including an assault weapons ban, universal background checks, firearm licensing requirements, and an expansion of Florida’s red flag laws.
