Professor Dowdle delivers Constitution Day lecture on U.S. presidency evolution

The Department of Political Science will host its annual Constitution Day lecture on Thursday, September 17, at 3:30 p.m. in the Mullins Library event space. Professor Andrew Dowdle will deliver a lecture on the U.S. Constitution and the evolution of the presidency.

Dowdle, a specialist in presidential institutional evolution, will discuss how the office of the presidency has changed since Washington’s inauguration in 1789 and will address controversies about the impact of those changes on national governance.

The lecture will last about an hour, with time for questions, and will be part of the department’s tradition of offering a complimentary lecture from an American or comparative perspective.
