Review examines Doug Lloyd’s handling of Eaton County sex-crime cases

A review of Eaton County court records and case files found that several cases handled during Republican attorney general candidate Doug Lloyd’s tenure as county prosecutor ended with reduced charges, probation instead of jail, or no prosecution.

The cases included allegations involving sexual assault, child exploitation and domestic violence. They involved a man accused of assaulting minors, former Delta Township Supervisor Ken Fletcher and former gymnastics coach John Geddert, whose case was later taken over by the Michigan attorney general’s office.

Lloyd has defended his handling of the cases, saying prosecutors lacked sufficient evidence in some matters. He is running against Democrat Eli Savit to succeed term-limited Attorney General Dana Nessel.
