County declines felony charges against woman in East Lansing arrest
The Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office will not pursue felony charges against Myanna Collins, whose Aug. 2 arrest outside Harper’s Restaurant and Brew Pub drew attention after video showed an East Lansing police officer striking her while she was restrained. Prosecutors said they could not sustain the burden of proof for the requested charges.
The matter was returned to the East Lansing City Attorney’s Office for review and possible charges. Police Chief Jennifer Brown said officials plan to release body-camera footage when doing so will not undermine the legal process or an individual’s rights.
