East Lansing police withhold body-camera footage from Harper’s incident

The East Lansing Police Department will not release body-worn camera footage from an Aug. 2 use-of-force incident outside Harper’s Restaurant and Brewpub, citing concerns about jeopardizing the legal process.

Police Chief Jennifer Brown said the department will release the footage and other relevant materials when doing so no longer threatens the legal process or an individual’s rights. The incident involved officers restraining 20-year-old Myana Collins. One officer was placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
