Mason mayor recall language approved for second time this year

The Ingham County Elections Commission approved recall petition language against Mason Mayor Russell Whipple in a 3-0 vote Friday. Whipple said he is considering an appeal in circuit court, where he has 10 days to act.

The recall effort cites Whipple’s February vote supporting zoning rules for data centers, which Mason later repealed. If no appeal is filed, petitions could circulate seeking about 1,000 valid signatures for a possible May 2027 ballot measure.
