Autism Hero Walk brings Michigan families together at Detroit Zoo

Families gathered at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak on Saturday for the annual Autism Hero Walk, described as Michigan’s largest gathering for families touched by autism. The event included a walk, superhero costumes and activities for children, teens and adults.

Hosted by the Autism Alliance of Michigan, the fundraiser supports resources for families navigating an autism diagnosis, including help finding pediatricians, insurance assistance and therapy services. Attendees also described the event as a longstanding tradition centered on connection and belonging.
