MSU outage disrupts classes, food service and hot water

A failure at Michigan State University’s T.B. Simon Power Plant caused a campuswide power outage Saturday. Power returned to most of campus by 2:52 a.m. Sunday, but crews continued working to restore service elsewhere.

Most buildings were expected to remain closed through Monday evening, with classes moving online Monday. Students also reported spoiled food, unavailable hot water, repeated fire alarms and uncertainty about class plans.
