Texas Senate race remains too close to call in new poll

A new Texas Southern University poll shows Democratic state Rep. James Talarico leading Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton 47% to 46% in the race for the U.S. Senate. Libertarian Ted Brown has 3%, while 4% are undecided; the lead falls within the poll’s margin of error.

The survey also found Republican Bo French leading Democratic state Rep. Jon Rosenthal 44% to 42% in the Texas Railroad Commission race, with 11% undecided. Another poll found that one in six Texas voters is unaffiliated and undecided with less than a month before early voting begins.

The Texas Southern University survey found President Trump’s approval rating in Texas at 46% favorable and 53% unfavorable. Other Republican statewide candidates held leads ranging from four to six percentage points in the poll.
