One arrested and four injured in crash on Mackinac Bridge

One person was arrested and four people were injured after a two-vehicle crash on the Mackinac Bridge, Michigan State Police said. The crash happened in a southbound construction zone where traffic was restricted to one lane.

Police said vehicles accelerated after leaving the toll booths and were driven recklessly before one struck the rear of another. Speed and alcohol are believed to have contributed.

Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and two sustained serious injuries. The bridge temporarily closed during the investigation but has reopened, while the investigation continues.
