Food prices rise 52.3% in a year, Union research says

Food prices rose 2.7% in September from the previous month and 52.3% from a year earlier, according to research by the United Public Workers Confederation’s KAMUAR research unit. Prices have increased for 76 consecutive months.

The research said food prices rose 41.5% in the first nine months of the year, while a 27% minimum-wage increase nine months ago lagged behind the cost of food. It also reported a 2,243% increase since September 2021.
