Former Michigan nurse charged in alleged abuse of premature infant

A former nurse at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids faces multiple child-abuse charges after a premature infant was found with bruises and broken bones, according to court records. The girl’s mother noticed bruising and discoloration on the infant’s tongue during a visit April 2, shortly before the child was expected to go home.

Kieran Ansley, 43, was fired and released on bond. Her attorney said she has cooperated with the investigation. The child, now 10 months old, is home and doing well, according to her grandfather. Ansley is expected to appear in court Nov. 10.
