Ionia County approves automated flagging system for road projects

The Ionia County Board of Commissioners approved the Road Department’s purchase of an automated flagging system Tuesday, a move intended to improve safety for drivers near construction projects and reduce the time employees spend holding flags along roads.

The system costs $38,375, with $5,000 from a state MIWish grant. The county will purchase it from Wanco, based in Arvada, Colorado.
