US and China agree to open channel for AI incident talks

The United States and China agreed to establish a bilateral communication channel for artificial intelligence incidents after a summit between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping in Washington, the White House said. Beijing had not immediately commented on the announcement.

The two countries also agreed to extend a trade truce due to expire in November until January, while China committed to importing at least 10 million metric tonnes of U.S. Coal in 2027-2028 and applying more favorable tariffs on $30 billion of non-sensitive goods from each side.

Trump and Xi are expected to meet again at international summits in China and the United States later this year.
