Meridian Township hosts Fall electronics recycling event to protect local waterways

The Meridian Green Team organized its annual Fall Electronics Recycling Event Saturday in the Meridian Mall parking lot, offering residents a safe way to dispose of old electronics and small household appliances.

Schupan Electronics Recycling partnered with the township to process the items, while Consumers Energy collected dehumidifiers, air conditioners, and small refrigerators to provide customer rebates. Volunteers from Okemos High School spent the morning unloading trunks and sorting items onto wooden pallets, and student volunteers Cooper Krystyniak and Carter Leone noted that a simple drive-through setup makes environmental stewardship easy for busy families.

In addition to electronics, Meridian Cares accepted donations of new and gently used winter coats, snow pants, and boots to support local families ahead of the colder months. Township leaders advised residents who missed Saturday’s event to check the county’s environmental services website for ongoing drop-off locations or visit regional Schupan processing facilities.
