Big donors pile up ahead of 2026 midterm elections

A Business Insider review of federal campaign data shows that roughly $849 million has already been donated ahead of November's midterm elections, with high‑profile donors such as SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Walmart heir Jim Walton, and Wall Street financier Jeff Yass contributing large sums.

George Soros and his family have been the biggest megadonors, with Soros himself donating just under $1 million to the Democratic Senatorial and Congressional Campaign Committees, while his sons Alex and Jonathan have contributed $125,000 and $325,000 respectively. Soros' Geosor and The Fund for Democracy have collectively poured $112 million into Democracy PAC, a clearinghouse for his donations.

Other major contributors include the Uihleins, who have given over $70 million to Restoration of America PAC and other super PACs; Miriam Adelson, who has donated $67.6 million to the Senate Leadership Fund and MAGA Inc; former Ripple CEO Chris Larsen, who has given $15 million to Invest in Tomorrow Coalition PAC; hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer, who has donated $53.2 million to STW PAC; and venture capitalists Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, who have combined donated $52.6 million to their firm.
