Ionia County Commissioners reject appeal over GIS data fee

Ionia County commissioners voted unanimously Sept. 22 to deny resident Justin Meyers’ appeal of a records request for digital geographic information system datasets, including parcel, zoning and address data.

County officials said the information is available online at no cost, but the county charges $1,000 to provide the underlying data as a digital export.
